Linda Capaci

As long as she can remember, Linda Capaci has always loved art. She remembers loving to watch Walt Disney’s animators draw their cartoons. The entire process fascinated her. She would draw animals or profiles of people on her school folders and before long her class mates would have her draw animals on their folders too.

As the years past, “life” got in the way: working and raising four children. But she began to take up art during that time when someone gave her an old set of pastels. Her pencil drawings soon became colored drawings and she fell in love with it. Linda was commissioned to paint portraits and small drawings for friends at work and neighbors. She also painted storefront windows at neighboring businesses during the holiday season.

She eventually decided to join the Los Angeles County Art Association. She entered a couple of pastel pieces at L.A. Fairs and won first place with one, and honorable mention with another. She then enrolled into Cerritos College to learn more about art. Linda, being self taught, knew that she needed instruction if she wanted to continue down this path. She began oil painting, as well as pastels, and took up Tole painting (painting done in Acrylic or oils on wood or tin objects) as a side business venture. Eventually she decided to focus on the fine art of pastel and oil painting. Linda entered Orange County Fair and sold a pastel and oil painting which encouraged her to enroll into Emeritus classes after retirement and it has been a wonderful experience for her.
She is amazed at the number of gifted artists in USPA and is excited to be part of the society and hopes to continue learning from our talented group.
